Why do we use local, homegrown ingredients in our gins?

We love including homegrown, locally produced goodies in our artisan gins, and Awakening, our seasonal release gin, is no exception. By selecting local, fresh produce and botanicals, we can create a unique gin with a distinct origin and expression of local terroir. It’s this connection with the local environment that separates a genuine craft gin, such as Imbibis, from a global-style gin.

Awakening was inspired by a Thai cooking class we did in Port Douglas. We absolutely adored the fresh, tropical flavours and ingredients and decided that we simply had to create a complimentary gin. We also loved the fact that almost all of the produce was grown on the property. We’re so proud to introduce our limited edition Awakening to our range, featuring our homegrown lemongrass. The pineapple, lemongrass and chilli were sourced locally in Southeast Queensland, where Imbibis is distilled.

Of course, we have thrown in a couple of native ingredients, such as dorrigo pepper leaf and anise myrtle to make the flavour uniquely our own. Perfect with an icy cold tonic on a balmy summer’s afternoon, one sip of Awakening and you will be transported to a tropical paradise. There are only 70 bottles left of the first batch of this limited release artisan gin, so snap them up quickly!
